PPR International

CityTransition!

This is the final part of our Professional Development Program. Your PPR Transition Specialist will fly with you to the city you will be working in and welcome you to what will become known to you as home. This person will be your guide, chauffeur and confidant as you become accustomed to the American standard of living. PPR International has a relocation program that assists with several important aspects such as obtaining a credit card and a mobile phone. The City Transition can last anywhere from five to seven days. Everything you purchase during this transition will be your responsibility so remember that when you are saving! The more you bring with you the more you can buy and the more comfortable you will be!

This is a very exciting time and there will be alot to do. Some of the items on our agenda are below.

Apartment: You will actually have an apartment picked out for you before you arrive in the United States. Your Transition Specialist will work closely with you to make sure that the location, price and size are exactly right for you. We will place you in an apartment that we feel is in a very safe location and close to the facility where you will work.

Utilities: Once we have secured an apartment for you, telephone, cable, electric and water services will need to be established in your name. The PPR Transition Specialist is well versed in this process and will assist you in accomplishing these tasks.

Department of Motor Vehicles: If you have an international driver license upon your entry into the United States you will be allowed to drive but only for as long as the law permits in the state you are residing. Each state has its own requirements. After you have settled into your new surroundings, you must apply and fulfill the requirements for a driver license in that state.

Grocery and Household Shopping: Once you’re settled into your new home, you’ll need to fill your refrigerator and pantry. The PPR Transition Specialist will escort you to a nearby grocery store that offers a wide variety of products. You will find dairy, meat, perishable and non-perishable items all in one store. These stores accept American currency and travelers cheques (with photo identification). Food isn’t the only necessity. When you’re setting up your new home there will be a variety of common household items you will want to purchase, for example, electronics (television, alarm clock, telephone), linens (sheets and towels), vacuum cleaner and kitchen items (pots and pans and appliances). You will find all of these items under the same roof at one of America's’ familiar stores like Wal-Mart, Target or K-mart. These chain stores are noted for providing quality items at a reasonable price. PPR International knows there are going to be things that you will miss from your country so our PPR Transition Specialist will locate a world market that offers some of your favorites from your own country. So, pack your bags and get ready for your new life in the United States. PPR International will be there for you and we’re looking forward to meeting you in person.

Facility Visit: After everything is finished and you are settled in you will visit the facility that you will be working in. This is will an opportunity for you to meet co-workers. We may even be able to squeeze in some time for you to actually shadow someone to see what you will be doing.
